An Alternative Form of Education

General Info about us March 8th 2022

With spring upon us and summer just over the hill, we look at an alternative form of education that can allow children and young adults a get away from row upon row of school desks and provide a compelling active learning experience.

Based at the Conquest Centre in Taunton, EquiScholars is a unique educational program that is activity based and teaches children to better understand equine (horse) behaviour. The program founders boast many years of tailoring and delivering training sessions for clients across the UK. The training course is enjoyable, modular, and can be easily delivered by any equine establishment.

The EquiScholars program is modular which provides ultimate flexibility with the school curriculum. It can be delivered as a term-time course, over a weekend or as a holiday club. The course is produced in easy read format (The Foundation Pack) with more than 28 hours of content. Anyone can deliver the course regardless of experience and depth of knowledge. The program modules are complemented by The Coaches Pack which provides all the information necessary to deliver the program. On completion, certificates are included along with the opportunity to buy and receive a bespoke EquiScholars NOTCH.

EquiScholars believe that learning and understanding is paramount when it comes to understanding horse behaviour.  Their mission is to help shape children and young adult horse lovers into future stewards of all domesticated horses. Horse lovers become advocates for a horse’s needs and wellbeing.

The program does provide children with the opportunity to get away from their classroom desks and enjoy field based active learning, but there are parts of the course that will be carried out in a relaxed classroom type setting. The quiz, which is part of a module, is still fun and a good example of this. Typically, dining tables and polypropylene type classroom chairs will be used for table based activities and of course dining.

As a look forward and in conclusion, we have heard on the grapevine that following the tremendous success of their February two day camp, EquiScholars will be holding the second camp of 2022 over the Easter period. Places are sure to get snapped up and we recommend checking the website regularly for any announcement (www.equischolars.co.uk) to secure your place and to avoid disappointment.
