Teacher of the Year 2016 Results image 1

Nominated by: Jacquelyn Young

Miss Lalsing teaches SEND at St Stephens CE School and judging from the reason for her nomination, she is a true star!

Reason for the nomination:

Belinda works unstintingly to support the children with SEND in our school and to support the Pastoral Team under her leadership. She has built up some great relationships with the families she works with and will always go the extra mile to help them or signpost them in the right direction for support.
As a result our provision for SEND is very good and our children are making great progress relative to their starting points. They are fully included in school and are given many opportunities to learn socially and mentally as well as academically. Belinda will always think of others and will go out of her way to help them, share a kind, encouraging word to brighten up their day and build a positive mindset.

A true inspiration to her class, colleagues and pupils’ parents. Congratulations…! We will be in touch very soon to arrange delivery of your luxury Hotel Chocolat hampers. Although we cannot fit all of the others on this post, here are a few other nominations. Make sure you let your nomination know that you put them forward!

Miss Davis joined the school in September and had been a "shining light." She brings patience, thought and care to every lesson and has endless patience with the children. She has worked tirelessly to move the children forward in their learning, inspiring each pupil and meeting their needs. Parents comment on the way she has transformed learning for the children, facing the pressures of Year 6 with a smile.

After 27 fabulous years. Mrs Lea is due to retire this year. With boundless energy, a true dedication and enjoyment of providing many hundreds of children over the years all the skills they need to develop. A true inspiration for any budding teacher.

Miss Bernadette Simpson, Nursery and potentially Reception Teacher at Sacred Hearts School, Wirral.

Nominated by Ellie Smith

Bernadette has devoted herself to educating young children at Sacred Hearts School for nearly 30 years, whilst raising four of her own. She has taught nearly every age group at the school over the years, ensuring to maintain a good quality teaching environment for the children whilst cuts in funding have taken place. She is clearly devoted to the industry and children, which in itself deserves her Teacher of the Year 2016.

Miss Lauren Petrie, ICT/Maths teacher at The Orchard School.

Nominated by Lisa Ashton

Because she is a real inspiration to both staff and pupils. She understands the complex needs of our children always thinking of wonderful ways to educate the children making it fun and interactive while learning through exploration. She comes in on a daily basis with new equipment and resources to engage the children to the max. She never thinks twice about purchasing things for the children out of her own pocket to make sure they have heaps of fun along with the staff. Lauren is a happy, fun, enthusiastic teacher to work with who has the staff and children's best interest at heart all of the time.

Miss Laura McDonald, SEN Teacher at Hillcrest Early Years Academy.

Nominated by Miss McDonald’s Class

Miss Laura McDonald is our awesome teacher who helps us every day with our work. She gives us great hugs when we are sad and she really listens to us. She always does what she says she is going to do. She is very kind and gives us new things to play with outside in our special play area. She rings up builders and businesses to ask for things for us to build with and we built a BBQ together as a class team and we made melted marshmallows which was great fun. At Christmas and Easter we all get a present from her. She helps us with all our work as we sometimes find it difficult but she makes us have a go and makes it a bit easier for us so we can learn quicker. Miss McDonald is very pretty and smiles a lot. She also pulls funny faces and makes us all laugh. She cares for us all the time and makes us happy. She plays lots of instruments such as the piano, guitar and saxophone. She teaches us singing and we sing lots of funny songs and dances with her. She teaches us football and fencing. We love doing fencing with her as she makes it fun. Miss McDonald always says we can do everything and she tells us never give up. She helps us to Aim High and Achieve which is our Academy motto.

I am sure that there will other competitions to follow in 2017, so make sure you keep in touch!

Until then, have a fantastic Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
